Therapeutic massage is a basic term that encompasses a variety of modalities that we will decide upon through our work together. From the flowing and kneading strokes of Swedish massage to deep tissue, trigger point work, energy holds, Thai techniques, myofascial strokes, salt stones, and acupressure; your massage will be built around what you and your body need.
A 30-minute massage is a great way to introduce your body to massage if you have never had one before. We can tailor the 30 minutes to your areas of need and comfort. 60 minutes is a wonderful amount of time for a full body or area-specific massage and with 90 minutes, we can configure a massage that targets the entire body as well as specific areas of need. During any of these massages, I will communicate with you if there are areas I am finding may need a bit more attention and we can decide if changes to our plan are warranted.
Your massage, your way!
Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension and can be completed at the studio or we can discuss bringing chair massage to your place of employment or team. The massage is done in a specialized ergonomic chair to receive maximum benefit. With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage. Also, chair massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into your busy schedule.
Chair massage is also popular for wellness fairs, corporate events, staff appreciation, or other large gatherings. A travel fee will be added to the price of chair massages scheduled out of the studio. Contact me directly to discuss details and availability for off-site chair massage.
Yes, children can benefit from massage too!
Some benefits may include:
A parent/guardian must be present during sessions, though the massage is primarily guided by the child's feedback. Consent from the client is always attained before and during sessions to ensure that children are understanding that touch is in their control.
Medical professionals may need to be consulted to clarify the benefits and contraindications of massage in regard to a particular child.
Currently, these sessions are offered for children ages 4 and up as 60-minute sessions only, with 15 minutes of this session reserved to consult with parents for updates and carry-over of recommendations. This shortened session is meant to help accommodate a child's limited attention span and need to release energy. Variations on a case-by-case basis will be considered
Services may need to be provided within the home or in an environment that the child is already familiar and comfortable with, though many children have enjoyed coming to the studio and getting a more adult-like "massage experience"!
Due to the unique nature of Pediatric Massage sessions, I am currently not including this service on my scheduling website, so please contact me via email (lmtmarissa@gmail.com) or phone (860-508-4858) to discuss details about an appointment.
